Summer Lovin: Week One...

Our first week of summer definitely started out with a bang! My friend shared an idea with me that I couldn't wait to experiment with this summer...she assigned each day of the week a particular theme. Therefore, I'm excited to share each week the various adventures the Clayton cuties will take. Here is how our week unfolded...

Kason was excited to attend his very first summer camp!
Kason went to a sports camp at the Rec Center across the field from our house which was nice to walk for drop off/pick up.
The staff was awesome and the kids really enjoyed their time being active together.
Each day they explored a new sport: basketball, soccer, volleyball, and baseball.
He met up with Aidan, Cara, and Nora from church which he seriously loved.
They all had a fantastic time and Zoe is already asking if she can go next year :). After camp each morning, we would follow up on our daily themes...

Make it Monday: Puff Paint
Oh yes friends, you heard right...I whipped up some really cool puff paint that the kids used q-tips to paint with.
You know me, I even tortured Max with painting too...haha!
He ended up doing a good job and has even built up stamina to participate longer in activities. As for the other two, well they thought this project was AMAZING! After the kids finished painting, you pop the paper into the microwave for 30 seconds and your artwork puffs up and hardens...
Let's just say this kept them busy for a while. After I showed them their finished results, they were bubbling with excitement to make more!
Zoe had a special treat with two make it Monday activities. While big brother was at sports camp, she had a play date at her BFF Grace's house to make bird feeders with some friends...

Tabernacle Tuesday: Fruits of the Spirit
On Tuesdays, the kids and I are going to go in depth (well, kid version of going deep!) about what it means to allow God to live within us and the Fruits of His Spirit that shine through us when that happens. This week we started by creating our tree...

Wet Wednesday: Running Through Fountains
On Wednesday, my sister and family were in San Antonio for a conference so I just had to drive the kids over to see them! While Uncle Bryan was at meetings, Aunt Shaye and I took the kids on the riverboat  cruise...
They really enjoyed going down the river exploring and taking in the sights...
We all sat in the back so we could be close to Max. Not going to lie, I did get a little nervous without strapping Max's wheelchair down, but of course he was just fine :).
After the trip around the riverwalk, we strolled for a bit until we enjoyed a super fun kid friendly dinner atmosphere...
After our jungle dinner, we went in search of this awesome park we heard about that ended up being under construction...but, we did find these super fun fountains that the kids ended up splashing in (clothes and all)!
Yep, these crazy kids had a blast!
After our impromptu waterpark visit, Uncle Bryan treated us to some yummy ice cream before we headed back home...
So, our wet Wednesday was a little unconventional, but we couldn't pass up a chance to see our favorite Sadie and Sophie!

Thinking Thursday: Sailboats
On Thursday during nap time, Kason and I got out a Christmas gift that he has been itching to do...an engineer kit. He searched through the manual until he found the perfect project...a sailboat.
Kason carefully followed the instructions (with a little help from his engineer challenged momma) to make the sailboat.
We talked about what powers a sailboat out on the ocean...
Then, we made a few adjustments to create a paddle boat. There again, we discussed how a paddle boat would work on a large body of water.
Of course when little lady got up from quiet time, she was excited to get in on the fun!

Family Fun Friday: Trip to San Marcos
Daniel has Fridays off work, so we plan to check off a few items from our Austin area bucket list. First stop was the Glass Bottom Boat tour in San Marcos.
Our good friends Uncle Kent and Aunt Debbie live in the area, so they met up with us.
The kids thought the boat was pretty cool...
Kason loved the turtles and fish while I was intrigued by the bubbling sand at the bottom of the river where the springs were coming up...
Max was a little restless sitting in our laps, but every now and then he was intrigued and would point to the river bottom...
After the boat trip, we wondered around the aquarium with Uncle Kent...
before heading back to their house where they grilled out lunch for us and the kids played.
Thank you so much for hosting us...we loved seeing you guys!

All in all, this was a busy, fun-filled week and a great way to kick off summer!
