Kindergarten Kidnap!

On the last day of school, the boys got out around lunch, so Daniel and I kidnapped them for an end of the year blowout to kick off summer break! Daniel and I allowed this to be a "yes" day and we let them do loads of stuff we don't normally...which was kinda fun not having to always so "no" to all of their pleas.
We decided to not tell the kids where we were going throughout the day as any good kidnapper would :). First stop for our meat lover was Rudy's...
which happens to be Kason's  favorite restaurant. We even splurged (that's right..."yes" day!) and let him even get a root beer out of a bottle. Then we whisked the kids away to go...
bowling! The kids had a BLAST...
There was loads of smiling, arm pumping, sliding across the floor with the oh-so fun slippery shoes...
cheering each other on...
and actual bowling of course :). Kason did really well and rarely even used the bumpers. Little lady of course need a little extra umph from her daddy...
Let's just say that this momma had a fabulous time, but is definitely keeping her day job...
I was a pro at gutter balls, but loved every moment with these bowling buddies...
Third stop on our kidnap route...
Man, oh man, were these kids in heaven! They love an excuse to bounce, jump, fling themselves around...
slide...
and go wild & crazy! Normally, Zoe is a very hesitant and nervous around bounce houses, but since the place was pretty empty...her and Kason were like ping pong balls bouncing everywhere :). There was even a little kid corner that Max explored...
Remember how I mentioned it was a "yes" day?!? Well, these kids even weaseled us out of quarters for all those cheesy kid vending type machines...haha!
They went nuts over us finally saying "yes" and letting them in a on a little extra treat. On the way out of the mall to our final destination for the night...
I even let the kids ride up and down the mall escalators so many times I got dizzy while waiting for Max to meet up with us. (Side note: this picture makes me smile because Max loves it when he holds Daniel's hand and helps pull himself around places!) It is so funny to me the smallest things we say yes to end up being so enjoyable for our munchkins...you know, like ride escalators up and down a zillion times :). Plus the freedom as a parent to just let loose and fulfill their wishes. Final destination for the kidnap route was back to the Clayton Casa for our signature Friday family movie night!
After grilling out dinner, we loaded up the couch with pillows, blankets, and a plate full of yumminess!
Our normal movie night treat is just our favorite homemade stove top popcorn (thanks to dad!), but tonight these rascals even got Junior Mints and Twizzlers...as well as us renting them a movie! Zoe has been in love with Tinkerbell for awhile now and so we introduced Kason to Peter Pan and Captain Hook. Since all of us were having too much fun together, Daniel and I decided to carry on the kidnap trip for one final activity Saturday morning...
that is right friends, we went on a family kayaking adventure at Brushy Creek!
Daniel has taken the kayak out a couple of times, but we haven't had a chance to take the kids...
 They were bubbling with excitement!
Not only did they LOVE every minute, Daniel said they were so relaxed and chill the whole time out on the water...
which if you know our kids, is saying something :). Kason actually did a really good job helping Daniel paddle, while little lady enjoyed hanging over the side of the boat splashing in the water...
As for Max and I, we enjoyed a stroll around the trail at Brushy Creek watching our kayakers go...
then rested in the breeze of the shade trees while they finished up. This my friends, was a pretty perfect weekend with our little crazy family. Daniel and I soaked up every moment we could with these wiggly, rambunctious munchkins. I'm sure every year won't end with an all out "yes" day kidnap adventure, but our boys worked so, so hard during their first year of school...we couldn't wait to celebrate their success. Now we are ready to sing at the top of our lungs, "School's out for summer!"
