Max's 4th Birthday Party!

This year has been a BIG year for our Mr. Max. Since being released from home bound, he now has friends...eeek! We were so excited for him to have his very first real birthday party and sent invitations to his friends at church and school! When planning my kids parties, I make sure all the details fit their personalities, so I immediately knew we would be having a children's song theme party since music just speaks to Max's heart :). I decided to center it around his favorite song...
Of course in Max style, nothing ever goes as planned and we always just have to roll with it...
so the party was no exception when we had to switch locations at the last minute due to extenuating circumstances. It ended up being a great location, close to home and friends, and the party was definitely a hit!
I will confess that this party planning momma likes to have plenty of time to get everything set up "just right", but the new location didn't let me into the room until about 15 minutes before the party started...therefore everything just kind of got slapped together.
It still turned out precious, but just not quite as I had envisioned (you know taller back drop, more spacing of food/labels, row boat eggs not on yellow, oh well!). Thanks to the grandmas and friends who helped me throw everything on the table so we could focus on the important stuff...partying with the kids. When the kids arrived, we had Max's favorite songs playing in the background, balloons blown up for them to play around with along with touchable bubbles!
Not sure if you have ever played with these bubbles before, but they totally rock. You can catch them and stack them on top of each other. They also stick to your body, floor, basically anything if they don't pop!
The kids were in heaven of course and as you can see, Maxers was no exception!
While Max definitley had a lot of fun at his party, he did get overwhelmed and returned to his "safe place" for most of the party...
These sweet friends didn't care one bit...
they all ran up to him to talk and play anyway! And yes, it makes this momma's heart melt to see so many kids love on Max and share in the joy of being a kid with him. After we snagged a group pic, the kids headed up to grab some yummies...
I named all the foods for children's songs of course...
and we had morning snack type foods...
Since I decided on not having a cake or cupcakes because Max doesn't actually eat, I did ask my amazing friend Traci to bake Old McDonald's cookies...
they were so stinkin' cute and tasted awesome!
My favorite part of the shenanigans was when we cranked up the music and got the party started! The kids joined in with me as we sang several kid favorites like 5 little monkeys...
Itsy Bitsy Spider...
look at Max go trying to do the hand motions! Old McDonald had a Farm...
London Bridges...
and several more, but the best part was when I had all the parents join us for the Hokey Pokey!
Look at this little fella go lovin' every minute...
We ended the party on Max's favorite song Wheels on the Bus...
followed by the traditional Happy Birthday song with a "cha cha cha" flair thanks to maracas!
I think a few of the sweetest moments were going through all the hand made cards Max's friends made for him. The adorable Miss Ryla, one of Max's close friends, picked out her special necklace to wear that she just knew Max would like...
colored him a picture and helped him open it...
This my friends is pure love and joy...
spending time together, making memories of laughter and fun! Thank you to everyone who came to share in Max's birthday celebration...
We are honored to have you in our life and that your sweet little munchkin loves our Max as much as we do!

  1. I hate that we missed it. I have a feeling I am going to feel like that after every birthday party. I told myself that we can't go to every single party anymore now that they are getting older but then I see the pictures & wish we would have been there :( He looks so big to me & I am so glad you were able to throw such a big kid party for Max & all his friends!
