November was a busy month for us getting ready for the holidays and a big trip. I decided early on that the kids and I were going to do homemade holiday gifts for both grandmas this year. I ended up doing a kitchen basket with homemade spices and vanilla while the kids painted them pictures. We booked a class at Painting with a Twist and let me tell you...it is worth every penny! These two had sooooo much fun they were begging to come back to paint something for their own rooms!
They did really good and were so proud of their finished product. We also decorated the house right before Thanksgiving. I was unbelievably sad we got an artificial tree this year rather than our tradition of cutting down our own tree :(, but knew that it wasn't possible this year.
Thanksgiving was different for us this year as we spent the day without family. It was our year with the Maddux family, but since we had a trip planned the following week, we opted to spend the day at our own homes. I did make the kids a little gobble, gobble breakfast...
before we headed up to Westover South for a Thanksgiving meal with Travis Heights.
Even though we couldn't be with family, I was thankful we could spend the day with friends and share in a meal with the homeless community.
When we got home later that day, I baked us a pecan pie so we would at least have one traditional food at home!
The next day Shaye's crew came in for a quick day trip to watch the Tech vs. UT football game. I stayed home to pack...
but was excited Zoe got to go to her first Tech football game!
I think having her girls there helped :)...she usually just wants to stay home.
The BEST part of November was the BIG trip I keep mentioning. Mimi and Doc sent the kids a package to reveal the surprise...
That's right...Mimi and Doc took both of our families to Disneyworld for a week!!! We left the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so not spending Thanksgiving day together was no biggie since we got to spend a week together at the most magical place on earth!
