Summer Adventures #weekseven

Week number seven of our adventures sent us to Lubbock to see cousin Fane {how Zoe pronounces it!}, Aunt Michelle and DB. So on Monday, we loaded up and headed out...
This crew are incredible road trippers, so thankfully this little bit longer trip went by quickly. We even arrived at their home in time to swim and eat dinner!
Going to spend a few days with cousins is always like a vacation for us because we pack our days in full of fun...unlike at home where we spend loads of time at home :). So on Tuesday we started our morning playing...
before we jumped on over to Altitude, the new trampoline park!
Wow! Did these rascals have a blast! They were bouncing off the walls, jumping off platforms, doing front flips into foam pits, and just having way too much fun...
I'm not even ashamed to say I jumped into the foam pit too! As for Max, well this kid loved the trampolines...
We pretty much sat on one together and bounced most of the time...boy did he wear me out, ha! After quiet time on Tuesday, we decided to go splash around at their neighborhood pool...
A couple of really exciting things happened. One, Kason jumped off the diving board for the first time!
He has seen diving boards before, but hasn't ever experienced one in person and he was pumped. I was super proud of him because the pool was very deep and he would jump in by himself and swim right back to the ledge...those swimming lessons finally paid off this summer :). The second super duper exciting thing that happened at the pool was we ran into Kason's idol...
Kyle Roberson!!! When we lived in Lubbock, Kason looked up to his older buddy Kyle and still talks about him to this day. Kyle is growing up to be an incredible young man...I mean what other 16 year old who runs into a 7 year old kid randomly chooses to spend his time jumping off the diving board and playing football together in the pool? I just loved that experience for my little man. After dinner that evening, these munchkins were itching to get on their scooters and head to the park!
Why yes, can't you tell we wore these kids out each day?!? They did crash once the lights went out. I must say, that I have fond memories of Lubbock weather in the summer, but boy did I forget just how amazing it is. This dashboard did not lie...
At 10:14 in the morning there was still a cool breeze...it didn't get hot until after lunch, then it immediately cooled down by 6:00 so you could even spend your evening outdoors. I'm not going to lie, I loved it...not spending a few days in a sauna! As for Wednesday, Michelle and I took the kids to the Science Spectrum.
The toddler area was loaded with all kinds of play adventures like the water table...
to the grocery store and pet hospital...
to the weather station...
Kason cracked me up because when he got behind the microphone he said, "Good morning. This is Kason on the radio and I'm here to report there is an accident on Mopac." Hahaha! He must be listening with dad to the radio on the way to school because there is always a traffic jam or accident on Mopac :).
It's safe to say that all four kids loved the hands on activities that morning and had a blast.
During Thane's nap time that day, I decided to take advantage of the slow pace of life and no commute in Lubbock to get the boys' hair cut. I was definitely about a month late on these bad boys, but boy did they turn out cute!
Man, I just adore that smile. Ever since we got in the car headed out west, all Kason could talk about was going to see Texas Tech and hitting up a Red Raider store. So Aunt Michelle and DB, being the awesome people they are arranged a fun evening for this guy. We drove over to see the stadium and let's just say there was definite shouting and hooting in the car once the Tech campus was in our line of vision :).
After seeing the stadium, I let the kids go crazy at the store. They all got new gear and a special Wreck 'Em Tech prize...I just couldn't say no to all their adorable enthusiasm :). After that, they took us to eat at a fun little pizza place across from campus before walking over to see Will Rogers...
I was stoked when Max learned how to throw his guns up for the very first time! Oh man, he was just as proud as I was!!!
Thursday morning we hung out and played for a bit around the house before loading up and heading back home. Thank you Aunt Michelle and DB for adding so much fun to our summer adventures!
I can hardly wait to share in all the memories these four rambunctious rascals are going to make together!
Cousins sure do make the best of friends :).

  1. Looks like y'all had a fun week! So glad you have a boy cousin to play with instead of always hanging out with my girls :)
