Ski Bums...

A couple of weeks ago, this crew loaded up and drove all night to spend a few days in our paradise....Colorado! A sweet family friend of my mom's let us crash at their cabin in South Fork, Colorado...
This was my first time to this area of Colorado and let me just share with you how gorgeous it was!
Daniel and I recruited Mimi to come help babysit the littles in the days and cook for us at night. I can't say enough how awesome this experience was for us! Mimi richly blessed us with allowing Daniel and I to have freedom in the day to play and then come home to a yummy, hot meal...
We also begged Daniel's parents (Nana & Pops) to join us in the fun...after a little arm twisting they finally caved ;).
On Saturday, after settling in we drove around to explore the area, then had lunch and shopped around the quaint town of Creede...
After dropping Max off for a nap, the rest of us got the sleds out for a little wild tubing action!
All of us had a blast, but I think this might have been Kason's wheel house. That adrenaline junky kid went crazy going down the hill every which way possible. One time he hit a bump and did a back flip at the end, got up and was amped up to do it again! In the evenings, we had a fire going and even made smores one night...
and celebrated Kason's birthday another night since grandparents weren't able to make it to his party...
For two days, we hit the slopes...eeek! Daniel I think was born wearing skies, that guy is such a natural.
Me on the other hand, well I'm a hot mess! I absolutely adore skiing, but let's be honest about my skill level, it's not the greatest...in fact, Kason has pretty much surpassed me already with only skiing twice!
Kason went to ski school for two days again and he totally rocked it. I had so much fun stalking him and watching his little group ski down the mountain. They looked like little ducks following their instructor...it was adorable. When ski school was finished for the day, there was time for him to take a few runs with everyone...
Of course the little booger chucks all the turns he learned at school and just points his skis down the hill and takes off! He definitely takes after his dad and will be skiing alongside him before we know it. Daniel loved skiing with his dad this trip, it's been around 18 years since their last time...
while I enjoyed skiing with Dianna for the first time!
The second ski day, I helped my mom bring the littles to the mountain to see what all this ski talk was about. Zoe loved the mountain, playing in the snow, watching Kason ski...
so much so that she can't wait for her turn! Max on the other hand wasn't impressed...
He enjoyed seeing everyone and didn't mind hanging out in the lodge, but he was not a fan of the snow. Thanks again to Mimi, Nana, & Pops for joining us on a ski bum adventure!
This Clayon Crew was able to soak up the beauty of the mountains, snuggle up in cold weather (which we seriously don't experience in Austin!), create memories with some of our favorite people, and get an adrenaline rush zooming down the snow in our slice of paradise!
