We're Building Up Some Fun...

at Kason's 7th Birthday Party! Today was such a blast as we celebrated another year of our little handy man! As you may know, this kid LOVES all things construction and carpentry something fierce. I mean, ever since he got his first pretend tool set at age 2, he's been hooked. So, it was only fitting that Kason share his joy with his buddies with some hammer time action at Home Depot...
If you didn't already know, Home Depot will host your party absolutely free! Oh, you heard right friends...free! They provide a couple of assistants, building kits for each kid, and they allow you to use their training room. Since it was late afternoon, Kason and I settled on cake (chocolate to be exact per Kason's request) and a few snacks along with orange Gatorade (his choice too!).
One of Kason's newest obsessions is gum, so I knew bubble gum rope was a special treat for him and his friends...let's just say they all flipped over it!
I love to be adventurous, so Kason's cake was no exception this year. Since Daniel didn't love the fondant topping last year I went back to a delicious butter cream and decorated it with fondant and gum paste...
There are a few mistakes of course and the cake began to crack once I got there (I probably bent it some during transport), but overall I still think it turned out fun! Kason was extremely excited about it. In case you are wondering, I did every detail on the cake except for the tool belt. I was nervous I wouldn't get that right, but after seeing the tools up close and me practicing my skills on the saw blade and tape measure, I think I'm ready to conquer even more!
I digress...uh-huh...back to the important information like all of the fun extras of a tool party...
Not only was this theme super fun, but I just couldn't help but smile at each detail and how it fit perfectly with our Kason. Of course we can't have a tool party without a few essentials...
Our main assistant, Juan, was such a sweet guy and was a pleasure to work with...
The kids had an absolute BLAST hammering away...
I especially loved all the daddy's putting in a little hard work with their littles...
and all the kid's serious, determined, concentrated faces :)!
Everyone was just so proud of their finished pieces!
These crew members were just too adorable today...love it!
After all their hard work, we sang to the birthday boy...
before digging in to the yumminess! A big shout out "Happy Birthday"...
to our favorite Mr. Fix It! Your dad and I couldn't be more proud your worker bee spirit, always willing to lend a hand, inventive and creative out of the box thinking, and your love of all things constructive. Oh, the places you will go our little handy man!

  1. The party turned out so cute & what a perfect theme for Kason! And can't believe you spilled secrets about the cake because it looks perfect in pictures - we wouldn't have noticed anything different!
