Busy Hands, Happy Hearts...

I'm sorry friends, life is a little busy and I'm falling behind catching you up on all the fun these adorable rascals of mine are having! We are officially/completely settled in our home, which feels absolutely fabulous :). We've been squeezing in a few long hours here and there when dad's off, but we finally did it after two months...we are all unpacked...woohoo! In our days while dad is at work, well I keep my three munchkins busy, busy, busy with all kinds of play! The four of us may or may not have become park junkies :) thanks to our awesome neighbor Christy (pushing the kids in pic) who has told us of a few hot spots...
I'm always on the lookout for another park to hit up because the weather is beautiful and it's just plain, good old fashion fun. Max especially loves when we go where there are swings which is one of his favorite past times.
Kason especially loves the dinosaur park where you get to dig in sand for fossils...
but really, what kid doesn't love to play in dirt?!?
I must confess that I have become spoiled with meeting up with other moms on Mondays for park play dates...
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, both Kason and Zoe go to pre-school at church while Max hangs out with me for his different therapies and doctor appointments. Most often though after school, one of Kason's new best friends Tanner (our neighbor), meets up with us for some playtime. They love to play at the park next to our house or in each other's garages. It has been a lot of fun to watch them stalk each other until one of them gets home so they can play...
Wednesdays has quickly become one of my favorite mommy/munchkin days! I reserve that day solely for us to spend time together playing, exploring, learning, laughing together. I usually have some sort of activity that we do like playdough, paint, puzzles, or a sensory activity like when I put contact paper down with an assortment of objects for them to create a masterpiece...
Zoe is at the age where she just loves to make a mess...
While Max isn't always fond of my bright ideas...
it usually requires me really "helping" him touch or play with whatever I have set out. He does love to participate...he just has a very severe sensory disorder and has aversions to several textures. Like I've stated before, we try to go outside as much as possible...especially with this beautiful spring weather. So sometimes I plan our activities outside like a walk around the mini-lake near our house, bubbles, or sidewalk chalk fun...
Of course this picture doesn't even begin to do justice for just how covered these two were with chalk...it was all over them...they LOVED it! While Max may not be in all the "action" shots, this little man is always there hanging out with us...
he just usually creates his own activity like rattling the chalk inside the case :). I think he likes the outdoors even more than the other two...he is always complete smiles the whole time we are out there. One of my other favorites on Wednesdays, is that we share a picnic and movie during lunch...
Kason picks a movie for all three to watch and we set up a indoor picnic and have a special treat of eating in the living room. With us being here for a couple of months now, we have finally gotten into a rhythm with Daniel's work schedule. Ministry doesn't have "set" hours, so while we have Family Fun Fridays and then do more work/chores on Saturdays together, Sunday-Thursdays are always a hit or miss as to if Daniel will be working longer hours (which means more time for the kids and I at home). We don't really mind since we usually get two whole days together (which rocks by the way!), so the kids and I end up spending a lot of our afternoon/evenings just playing around the house together. Kason loves nap time because it's his time without any sneaky fingers grabbing his toys and darting off, so he likes to create special play areas like racetracks...
(the blue lines are the roads that he drove his cars all over...and yes, he directed me on where these roads needed to be). If Max is not snatching one of Zoe's binkas to play with at his favorite step, then he is most likely begging me to hold him...
If I let him, I think he might stay right here all day long! I definitely can't complain because after two years of not wanting any type of touch, I will give him all the lovin' he wants :). As for little lady, well this little momma is always up to something...
she loves to play in her room, especially with her obsessions: backpack and shoes (which I'm thinking is going to be an expensive hobby when she gets older!). I do love to "treat" the kids on occasion like taking them to grab ice cream or to a movie...
Daniel and I do say that we are like a traveling circus, and I must confess...
that's pretty accurate! We are all about sharing in playtime happiness with giggles, squeals, stomping, silliness, active little feet, and mainly just lots and lots of loud noises...so while I keep their hands busy, my heart is most definitely happy.

  1. I LOVE all of the pictures! I have had Clayton Crew withdraw since you haven't blogged lately :) I am so happy that y'all are loving life in Austin & meeting so many new friends - for you & the kids! By the way, we have always known that we have great taste, but here is more proof - Sadie has those same cherry pajamas that Zoe is wearing :)
