Let the Wild Rumpus Start...

I was beyond excited this past weekend as we showered with love our favorite Aunt Michelle and DB as they prepare for their first child...
baby Thane!
Love this adorable name they came up with. Thomas is a family name on the Clayton side and Blane is a family name on the Simmons side, so they combined the two for a unique, funky name!
When I started thinking about a baby shower for Michelle, I instantly thought of a vintage children's book theme. She loves all things classic & traditional...plus, she adores childrens' books.
I mailed a library pocket with a plain library card and this insert to instruct friends what to do for the big day...
Michelle has four close girlfriends who helped me host the shower: Amanda, Amber, Sarah, and Cally. I was so thankful for these girls who bounced around ideas with me and pitched in. The shower was loads of fun and I was pretty pleased how all the little details fell into place. Entry table:
Friends put their children's books in the bucket and library cards in the card catalogue...
Corsages:
Shower Favors: variety of bookmarks...
Fireplace and Mommy-to-be thrown for opening gifts...
If you look closely, one of the hostesses made all of these really neat flowers out of childrens' books and the fun leaves on the branches...
I loved it so much I asked if I could place an order :)! When I was planning the decorations, I knew I wanted items Michelle could also use in the nursery so I flipped when I found these vintage inspired alphabet cards...
The food even followed the children's book theme...
Just look at that cake one of the hostesses' friend made...it was beyond AMAZING...too, too cute! One of my personal favorites I made were wall art with a quote...
Of course, what is a brunch without mimosas! Therefore, we had a mimosa bar where you could mix your own concoction with a variety of juices and fruits...
I loved seeing all the different books friends chose to provide a library for Baby Thane...
a few were well loved vintage books while others were more current editions...
I was so excited to have my sister come with Sadie and I must confess this picture makes me laugh every time...
not sure we will be getting a "kids looking at the camera pic" anytime soon, but I love all the little munchkin goodness! I especially adore this little lady who stole my shoes while Aunt Michelle was opening gifts...
I also loved seeing my mom and as you can tell, her grands couldn't get enough of their personal jungle gym also known as Mimi...
Loved seeing family from Daniel's side that we haven't seen in a while. In fact, it was the first time for a few of them to meet little lady...
Not only was the shower fun to catch up with family and friends,
but what an honor to be able to shower Aunt Michelle and DB as they prepare for their newest bundle of joy! The Clayton Crew is already looking forward to meeting their newest baby cousin!

  1. I can't believe you actually got a halfway decent shot of both of us with the kids! That was such a chaotic moment, I didn't think we got anything good :) And I love the picture of Sadie in your shoes - I remember that exact moment, but I didn't have my camera close by. Guess I'm gonna have to copy that one!
