Camp Kason...

For Kason's 4th birthday party, he requested a camp out! Since I didn't quite think any of his friends' moms were quite ready for an overnighter, we agreed on a "camping theme". Of course Kason had to prepare a few days in advance to get himself into the right frame of mind :)...
Kason also helped me create an invite list for all his camper buddies...
On the day of, Kason and I transformed our home into Camp Kason...
I love how Kason is beginning to have an opinion on his parties because during our "planning sessions" he was adamant about a few things...
1. The food on our trail...
2. The bug juice could only be lemonade...
3. There MUST be a cake...Kason's exact words were, "I just need a cake so I can blow out my candle. I don't want to eat any of it...you guys can just do all that for me!" Therefore, I followed his instructions and made him his very own special campfire...

When all the fellow campers arrived, they hit the outdoors for a little adventure...
Kason was even excited Cousin Sadie joined the camp out crew...
The babies of course had their own camping party indoors...
Once all the campers arrived, we began having too much s'more fun...
The dads even pitched in to help the little campers out with roasting marshmallows...
True to Lubbock weather, it was a bit too windy to eat outdoors...so we had a little picnic inside :)...
After filling up on camp food, the Camp Kason Park Ranger stopped by the tent to fill in the campers on a few trail guidelines...

Then, the trail guide lit the fire...
so we could sing songs around the campfire...namely, "Happy Birthday to You"!
The finale of the night might have been the best part of the entire camp out, the flashlight favors...
While waiting on all the moms so the campers could pack out for the evening, there was a bit more outdoor adventure in the dark...
They ran around like crazy, screaming, lighting everything up, and having too much fun...
I'm really thinking we might be seeing these campers again...and maybe one of these times, the "big" boys will have a real overnighter where they can flash around all night by a real camp fire!
For right now though, I think Kason will just stick to camping out indoors...
At least the conditions are a slightly cozier and the food much more scrumptious the following morning...which you will see on Kason's actual birthday as he turned 4...coming up next!
