Rockstar...

I know many of our friends are anxious to get an update on our Mr. Max, but I have a little treat that is even better than that...
pictures of our rock star! That is right...this kid has rocked this surgery and recovery so far!!! The first 24 hours after surgery, Max was heavily medicated and had a morphine pump that I could administer every 10 minutes to help with pain management along with IV Tylenol. He slept extremely hard and was in a lot of pain whenever he woke up. At one point he woke up and thought about playing, grabbed his rattle, then thought "nah" I think I'll just catch a few more zzz's!
Around 4:30 yesterday afternoon the little guy woke up and started playing like crazy and hasn't hardly quit! He wasn't super smiley yesterday evening while he was playing, but when he woke again this morning he was in the best mood! He even got a little sponge bath to help him feel so fresh and so clean...
We knew we had our Maxers back 100% when he started propping up his feet and hanging them through the crib bars...
started charming all the medical staff here at the hospital with his constant smiles and giggles...
and of course his infamous tangling of cords...
which has about exasperated the nurses! Max rolls constantly wherever he is and can turn his cords into several knots within seconds and he just had to show off his rock star Houdini skills here in Houston too! The nurses finally started asking for consent from the doctor for unhooking him from certain devices because they couldn't keep him untangled...I'm telling you, he is a little tooter and I love it! Max is back to full feeds through his G-J tube, is IV free now thanks to popping out his last IV (yes friends...all by his little self), is back down to his base line on o2, and still has his chest tube to drain fluid from his lungs. We are still in the Intermediate PICU but should be moving to a room tomorrow since there wasn't one available today. When I spoke to the surgeon this evening, he wants to leave the chest tube in a bit longer because he is draining quite a bit of fluid and doesn't want his lung to collapse. From what I gather our release date will be Monday or Tuesday. Well, you know I have a hard time not updating on all my little munchkins...so let me take a few moments to brag on our other rock stars. Kason and Zoe have come for a visit on Wednesday (during surgery to help distract me) and today. They are both having a lot of fun getting some serious Mimi and Doc time...and I'm hoping we don't wear out our welcome here :)! While Kason was visiting the hospital, he got to participate in a special treat...

he played a video game for the very first time and absolutely loved it! As for little lady...
she doesn't care much who she is with as long as she gets some serious attention! All in all, these guys are handling things well considering our family is split up yet again. Thankfully we have rock stars who know how to have a good time no matter where we are jamming out!
