Christmas with the Maddux Family...

The Clayton Crew had Christmas with my side of the family this year in Frisco at Aunt Shaye's house. Before we headed that way, I snuck the little elves in to see Santa for Zoe and Max's first time!!!
One super excited momma right here! The funniest thing happened though while we were there. Kason was so proud telling Santa how he wanted a chainsaw just like his daddy's for Christmas. Santa wasn't too sure what to think about that wish so he asked if there were any other tools he might need. Kason said, "Hmmm...yeah I do actually. I need a new drill for my workbench!" Good job Santa...considering this was 3 days until Christmas morning and now we had a bit of rush shopping to do! Thanks to Santa's elves (aka Mimi and Doc) everything worked out :). Miss Zoe's face sums up the joy of our Christmas celebration...
The kids played the entire time with cousin Sadie and had a great time. Aunt Shaye even treated the bigger ones to a trip to the park!
While Max found the presents and was slightly interested in peeking a little early...
Kason helped me make my most favorite Christmas goody...
chocolate pretzels! He showered those pretzels with love, devotion, and lots of snot as the little guy couldn't stop coughing all over everything...gotta love this season! On Christmas Eve, a Maddux family tradition is for the kids to open up new pajamas...
and decorate sugar cookies to set out for Santa...
Since we were slightly behind on our Christmas festivities, I wasn't able to help Kason write his Santa letter early. Therefore, we took care of it and laid it out with Santa's yummy sweets...
Of course we couldn't forget to feed the reindeer...they have a big job too pulling Santa and his massive sack of presents all night!
Kason and I even watched a live feed of the reindeer before Santa left to deliver gifts and were even able to catch an elf feeding them! We also tracked Santa throughout the day so we could see his progress as he delivered presents around the world. It also helped Kason see that he was getting close to Aunt Shaye's house and he needed to head to bed! In order to help calm his excitement and eagerness of Santa's visit, we had one more tradition left...
reading The Night Before Christmas! While the munchkins slept, the adults played a little...
by finishing decorating the cookies and filling up a few sacks ourselves! As you can see, Santa spoiled the four candy cane cuties...
Kason was thrilled of course to see his new chainsaw and drill (since Aunt Shaye had a few things that needed to be fixed at her house) along with a few other tool necessities in his stocking like a tool belt, measuring tape, and swiss army knife (yes, a play one!).
Kason was also delighted to see that Santa enjoyed his special treats and was surprised to see how thirsty the big fella was...
Max enjoyed his new music table that Santa brought him...
and well Zoe, she will be excited about her new Fisher Price mirror when she is a bit bigger and isn't sleeping through all the gift giving...
The whole family was spoiled by my main squeeze and his homemade cinnamon rolls!
That is right ladies...be jealous! He is not only handy, but he can cook! As always, we had a blessed Christmas...
along with a bit of a mess! Oh the joys of Christmas morning with kids...I love it!!! The kids' Santa gift is their "want" gift and then they get two other gifts from Daniel and I...need (we try to be creative with this one) and family (something we can do together). Kason's need gift was a new tractor because he always "needs" to do work around the house...he even needs to haul around his other trucks at times!
I was probably the most excited about his family gift...Hungry, Hungry Hippos! Do you remember that game?!? It was one of my favorites and I can hardly wait to battle this little man to see who can munch and crunch the most! Miss Zoe's need gift is getting her ears pierced because every little lady needs a bit of bling!
Mr. Max is growing so much right now that his need gift is new clothes because it seems like over night he outgrew everything he owned!
Both Max and Zoe's family gift is something that I will be working on throughout the month of January. I'm creating a few sensory activities for them that Kason can help me play with them.
This is by far the most wonderful time of the year! Not just because I love spoiling all four of my loves, but because we get extended time together as a family. Time to relax and spend quality time with all of our family from both sides...what a blessing to have such strong family relationships and the ability to have a holiday season full of love and laughter!

  1. Was searching for a GF's blog and came across yours. Started reading your Christmas post about "...Miss Zoe's need gift is getting her ears pierced because every little lady needs a bit of bling!" I felt the same way too when she was two months old.

I asked our ped who encourage me to do it early when mommy could care for them. She gave me some suggestions for finding the the right person and place and some OTC meds to minimize any discomfort.

Think you were a smart mommy for piercing your dd’s ears early. Drop me an e-mail if you'd like her tips for moms having their dd's ears pierced.
