Let There Be Light...

Our vision therapist brought Max another fun learning tool...his version of a Lite Brite! The technical term is actually a light box and is most commonly used for children with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) like Max has.
The light helps isolate the object so that Max can see with better clarity. The isolation from the light helps his brain to process what he is seeing since that is where his real vision problem lies.
I have never seen Max focus on anything for an extended period of time and when the light box was turned on...he was instantly enthralled!
When our vision therapist put a red gel pad against the light...
Max was beyond excited and couldn't help himself from getting a closer look! He would back up for a few seconds, and then lean on in to get an even better peak! Since the light box was deemed successful, our vision therapist is ordering him a mini-light box which is much smaller than the one shown. We have learned that most children with CVI use a light box in school to assist with their learning...so I'm thinking this new toy is a keeper!
Daniel and I are slightly proud of our Mr. Max because he is growing by leaps and bounds! Next week he turns 18 months, so I'll fill everyone in on all the amazingness that our love bug is up to...so stay tuned!
