What this season is all about...

As Christmas is drawing closer it is even harder for our family to be split apart as we spend time with Max in the hospital. I must say that this little man...
is such a trooper! It is very difficult for him to understand everything that is going on and why our family has been separated so much this past year, but God has blessed Kason with such strong character already that some days we forget he is a two year old and not a little man! We also can't thank our families enough as we basically "wing it" during this holiday season. This weekend was the Maddux Family Christmas so Mimi and Doc came to visit...
Mimi helped me make Max's room more festive by bringing a little holiday cheer to everyone...
If you look closely in the pictures you will even see we wrapped the head of Max's crib with lighted garland as well! Mimi and Doc ordered us yummy Carino's for our Christmas meal...
and one of Santa's favorite helpers brought our gifts...
This little elf really enjoyed opening up not just his gifts, but all of ours...
which was hilarious to watch because he might possibly be the cleanest kid I've ever met. He would rip off small pieces of wrapping paper at a time and then put them in the trash...I mean seriously kid...where is the ripping open of presents? I'm thinking Daniel and I need to really initiate him and maybe have a "present opening training session" before the big day! As for Maxers...
he just hung out in his bed entertaining himself with the endless joy of staring at his hand! During Mimi and Doc's visit, Kason had a special treat of seeing Arthur Christmas at the movies and we even had a sweet friend come sit with Max tonight so we could all go see Christmas lights together...
which of course Kason loved! I couldn't stop smiling while watching him dance and try to stay with the rhythm of the lights on the house that was timed to music. Even though this isn't an ideal situation, what joy to be able to spend time with our loved ones...
'tis the season for family togetherness whether it is around your family tree or around your precious loved ones!
