Best Christmas Gift Ever...

our family is all home together! Max's surgery went really well on Wednesday and since it is the holidays, our surgeon surprised us today by letting us go home early! While I was super excited, I'm not gonna lie...I did have a mini-freak out session. I hadn't quite learned how to take care of all the medically necessary tasks for Max, so we pretty much had a crash course this afternoon. Mr. Max is really doing well considering he has had 3 surgeries in less than a month. I'm telling you he is quite the trooper...
You may be wondering what type of surgery Max actually had. The surgeon placed a feeding tube into his abdomen on the left side and did a Nissen Fundoplication. A Nissen is a procedure that won't allow Max to have any more acid reflux, spit up, or vomit...ever...yes, even as a kid or a teenager. Eventually over time the Nissen will loosen up from growth and he will be able to vomit, but not for many, many years. As for the feeding tube, I will now be able to feed Max just a few drops of formula in a bottle so he can still practice swallowing, but he will now receive all feeds through his G-Tube. I will feed him every 3 hours (4 total) in the day and then he will have a continuous feed for 10 hours through the night. I have a feeling that we may start seeing a little fat under Maxers skin real soon! As you can see, Kason is super excited for his little brother to be home...
as for Max, well...he has been really happy too except for when Kason is smothering him! Can you blame Kason though? Who wouldn't want to smother Mr. Max with kisses? Especially since Dad and Kason have been apart from Max for a week and a half!
So, the Clayton Crew can't thank the surgeon and hospitalist enough for blessing this family with a Christmas together at home!
