A Spooky Good Time...

October sort of caught a ride on the witches broom and flew right by this haunted house! You know this holiday lovin' momma is all about the fun activities, but I was a little preoccupied with organizing a women's retreat for our church that this boo crew was in survival mode, ha! The kids and I did decorate which is always a must for any holiday around here...
We also managed to make dipped apple slices...
we read all our spooktacular books quite a few times...
and we had several Halloween themed lunches for school!
One day Zoe and I went on the hunt for the perfect pumpkin to carve...
Sunday evening (the night before Halloween), we went to trunk-or-treat at BCS and I captured the most precious pictures of the kids...but sadly my computer crashed right after I downloaded them and now they are lost. On Halloween, we baked witches' brew cupcakes and I made stuffed jack-o-lanterns with bat & ghost chips and avocado in a caldron!
Our heroes and villains needed to fuel up before the big night of haunting! So let's check out our line up...
 Batgirl...
Kylo Ren which was absolutely perfect for Kason (he didn't have to say a word to anyone, just got to creepily walk up for candy, ha!)...
and Captain America to the rescue!
We walked around a couple streets in our neighborhood...
before driving around to see a few decorated houses near home. I think Zoe was the sneakiest little thing! She would walk up all charming, say Trick-or-Treat, then grab a handful of candy, shove it in her bag, and walk away before anyone noticed. There were even times when Kason would talk to the neighbors and she would just sneak around him, grab a stash, and run...haha! She's a mess that one! Max loved holding on to a candy bar so he could shake and rattle them. I have to say that every year, the people we encounter are so inclusive and go out of their way to accommodate Max...I love seeing their kindness extend to our favorite little hero!
One house in our neighborhood was decked out for Halloween and even had a little Haunted House in their driveway which Kason was stoked about. Zoe wanted to be brave right alongside big brother, but it backfired on her and she was scared to death. I had to carry her out crying, poor thing. Kason on the other hand thought it was the "coolest.thing.ever."
From a momma perspective, it was the perfect start to experiencing haunted houses. It wasn't really scary or gory, just a few skeletons and strobe lights ;). After all the excitement we headed home to sort our candy and pass out our treats to the few Trick-or-Treaters who stopped by...
What a frightfully fun month with my little monsters!
