Wrapping up our Summer Lovin' Fun...

Oh man, I am so sad to report that last week was the finale of our summer lovin' fun. The Clayton Crew sure has enjoyed one fabulous summer together, so we capped off the last weekend together with a roll with it Austin adventure. Let's just say this family doesn't always solidify plans, we just kinda jump in the car and see where it takes us :). First stop Friday morning was to the children's museum I've been wanting to take the kids to...
We have heard rave reviews and thanks to a sweet friend who gifted Max with tickets for the whole family, we finally made it. This place definitely did not disappoint! I'll let the pictures of the kids exploring explain for themselves...
These three cuties had a blast at the Thinkery! I will say that this was a complete mom fail because the placed was packed. I figured it might be a hot spot Saturday, but underestimated other mommas. I think we would have stayed longer and Max would have had more fun if it was less crowded (he definitely was way over stimulated). Therefore, it is a must for us to come back...in fact the kids have already put in a request :). After our science exploring field trip, we rolled the dice and decided on a local dive, Pinthouse Pizza. I've heard rumors that their pizza rolls are incredible and they were confirmed! This crew will definitely make a return. We headed back to the house for nap time and rest before a late evening gamble, exploring a new lake and camping site in Georgetown. The weather has been unseasonably cooler these past few days, so we just had to soak up the sun...plus, we just love to drive around and find new places. This area turned out to be a little kid heaven being able to run around, throw rocks into water, and playing on a pier...
at least for our kids! They love to be outdoors in nature, especially around water.
We got back home late in the evening past bedtime and I had a spunky idea...I told the kids to run upstairs and throw on their suits because we were going night time swimming! Boy were their minds blown :)...
They were geeked up to swim in the dark with the pool lights on. Saturday morning we did our usual, sleep in and laze around until after breakfast. Then we loaded up to see what kind of inexpensive fun day we could have again in the ATX. First stop was to the Domain where they have an outdoor play area...
followed by a personal favorite, All Things Kids...a super fun toy store. I love, LOVE toy stores in Austin because they either have areas throughout the store with toys on display for the kids or they have rooms in the back.
It's enjoyable for them to go play with new toys...
and this momma loves that it doesn't cost her a penny :).
Since we ate out the day before, Daniel and I packed a picnic for Saturday. Again, no agenda on hand so we rolled the dice again and decided on Zilker Park...an Austin staple. We picnicked by the play landscape then let the kids loose...
Before heading back home to wrap up our summer lovin' family fun weekend, Daniel took us to this adorable little grocer...
We splurged and let the kids enjoy an old school treat of push up popsicles and share a root beer in a glass bottle...
Oh, how I love my Clayton Crew!
I'm always sad to see another summer come to a close, but am always thankful for the family time we do have together. Have no fear, this adventure loving family will definitely be rolling the dice again looking for a little more ATX fun this fall!
