Spring Semester...

I really can't believe that the spring semester has flown by so fast and the boys will be out of school in just a few short weeks...eeek! Kason has really loved his time in kindergarten and has worked so, so hard this year. He zipped through everything except for his major obstacle all year which has been reading...
Homework has been a struggle, but we are so proud to say that he is finishing up the end of the year strong with reading on grade level!
There have been several moments where Daniel and I really wondered if he would reach it, but this little dude never gave up...he worked so hard and reached his goal of reading on a level 4 (which is the kinder end of the year goal for our district's reading program). He was beaming from ear to ear, so proud of himself, and couldn't help shouting from the rooftops his accomplishment, so we had a reading celebration at one of our favorite hot spots :)...
Of course this spring semester brought loads of fun times like their various dress up days. For fairy tale day, Kason chose to go as the gingerbread man...
He went as a little old man golfer for their 100 day celebration...
we couldn't talk him into letting dad paint wrinkles on his face :). He loved book character day when he got to dress like his favorite Hank the Cowdog!
Then of course, he could hardly wait to show up in his cowboy gear for cowboy day...
Since the school doesn't participate in holidays like Easter, the teachers were sneaky and planned their dinosaur unit around that time so the kids could hunt dinosaur eggs!
Kason and his friends thought this was way too cool :).
I love, love being able to be at all his school events and get to know his friends a little better. This age is just too precious! I had to watch the class one day for Ms. Chapman, and the kids went crazy because my little side kick was there with me.
All the kids loved "teaching" Zoe and were taking turns teaching her the ins and outs of the classroom.
Kason also had a special visitor one day at school, his favorite lady Addy dropped by for lunch!
Kason couldn't stop talking about Addy to his teacher all morning :). Addy isn't in kinder yet, so it was adorable to watch her take it all in...you know the crazy that happens in school cafeterias. Another special treat was after months of begging, dad finally let Kason ride to school on his bike.
He sees a lot of kids ride to school, but he couldn't quite understand that we live in a different neighborhood a few minutes away from school. One Friday morning, the guys got up really early and headed out...then the littles and I met them there with his backpack. Man, did that just make his day! Kason has made quite a few friends at school this year and one of his favorite buddies Brayden is joining us now a few days a week after school until his dad gets off work. Kason really enjoys these days and I have to admit it is quite adorable watching these guys ride bikes and play football in the afternoons...
After snack and homework, my main rule is to get outside...these guys don't hesitate one bit! This really has been a fantastic school year for Kason. He has grown, matured, and learned so much over the last 9 months. His teacher even set up conferences for the kids to "show off" for us...
He was proud to strut his stuff and show us what he has learned.
Of course, one thing he hasn't learned yet is cleanliness :). I kept wondering why he wasn't bringing home work papers from school until one day his backpack was busting at the seems...
Oh yes, that is right my friends, I have one of "those" kids...you know the paper hoarder, locker slobs...hehe! While Kason has had a fabulous spring semester, I think our whole family is itching for summer break. We are ready to not clean out backpacks, pack lunches, do homework, or wake up early...although, my kindergarten loving kid will definitely be missing those days full of friends!

  1. Kason sure liked school while I was there. The 3 of them were a handful but were awful fun to babysit. Thanks for the invite. Doc
