Wrapping Up the First Semester...

Well, the boys are wrapping up their first semester of school and while they are a little excited for the break, I know they will still miss it. We have settled into a good routine with our school schedule and are having less days of rough mornings and high academic expectation frustrations with Kason. These boys are really thriving at school and it makes this momma's heart soar! Several mornings when Max sees that we are pulling into one of his favorite places he starts his "excitement rocking" and patting his buckle to signal "let me outta here"! Max's teacher and the aides are so good working with him and helping him work through his sensory struggles...
While he doesn't want to participate for too long, he will touch most things now. He will also color a little bit and touch stickers! Max also gets to participate in all events in the classroom just like every other student...
The teacher just showed him a couple of objects and whichever one he grabbed was his answer :). We still absolutely LOVE Giddens. There is always something happening up there which keeps Kason excited. Red Ribbon week was fun because each day they got to dress up, like college day where we had to represent...
On career day, Kason was still adamant that he wants to be a professional mountain bike racer. So we decked him out in all his gear...

Can I just say I'm so, so proud of this guy?!? He is working really hard at school. He knows all of his alphabet (lower and upper), all the sounds, a few sight words, and has started sounding out words for reading! Language Arts is hard for him and he has come so far in just a few short months. One thing this guy still absolutely LOVES is to write as much as possible and always has the sweetest things to say...

One day he even asked to write daddy a note and put it on his mirror...

LOVE! I'm still trying to mix up his homework a bit in the afternoon to keep him focused. He especially loved his new Planes Sight Word Game I found...
of course he won...
and was so proud of himself for figuring out a few words on his own :). One of my personal favorites from the semester was the boys' school pictures. Daniel decided we needed to purchase them (even though I didn't want to 'waste' money), but I am so glad he took charge and did...
they turned out amazing! Look how old these boys look! Daniel and I know both Kason and Max are working hard everyday. They have both grown and matured so much already these last few months. We have fun listening to stories of whats happening and the new friends they are making. I'm already looking forward to whats to come this spring and to see the ways they continue to flourish!
