Trail of Lights...

Living in a city like Austin has been a fun experience for our family because there is so much happening all the time. Daniel and I decided this year to hit up the main Christmas event for Austin...
I will say it was a little overwhelming to do research on this event because everything said it was a blast, but crazy crowded. Luckily, our sweet Mr. Max got us in VIP style early so we could peruse without a crowd!
That's right friends, no waiting in line...we just walked on in since they accommodate families with disabilities! (One bonus to lugging that wheelchair all over!)
As you can see, we had a great time together. We made our way through lit streets...
to the ultimate goal, The North Pole...
 to see Santa!
Zoe was so scared that she was clawing her way back into our arms, so Dad jumped in with her :). After meeting the big man, the kids wondered around the little village where they got free books...
followed by...
There were little stations set up in Santa's Workshop. One of the kids favorites (especially Max) was their large scale light bright!
On the way out, the kids went through CandyLand where free candy was passed out...
Trail of Lights is at Zilker Park near downtown Austin, so we were able to pass by their famous tree...
 and see a beautiful skyline!
Dad even treated three of us with a rickshaw ride back to the car (we were pulled in a little passenger cart by a cyclist, these are popular around downtown)...
I loved it just as much as my munchkins! On the way home, we drove by the capital to see their beautiful Christmas cheer...
We had so much fun that...
we just flat wore the kids out :)!
If you are ever near Austin around Christmas, we highly recommend the Trail of Lights. We were able to get there early, eat at a local dive near Zilker beforehand, then stay parked there and walk a couple of blocks over...plus, it's all free! Trail of Lights definitely lit up our night and holiday!

  1. So much better than I envisioned & I'm glad you finally got your Santa picture. I could have guessed that Zoe would be scared :( Sadie finally conquered him at 3 so maybe next year will be her year!
