Mine and Daniel's New Year's Eve celebration has made a slow progression of change since we've added more kids to the Clayton Crew, but I must confess that this year's celebration might have been my favorite...EVER! Since we choose to spend the evening together each year, I decided to mix it up a bit and have a fun countdown with our munchkins. I switched the clocks forward so the kids could still go to bed around the same time, but allow Kason to have a midnight toast kid style :). So, for eight hours on the hour, Kason popped a balloon...
which revealed an activity for us to participate in together. I'm fairly certain that popping the balloons each hour was probably his favorite part of the day!
We started at 5:00 by baking cupcakes...
then moved into making noise makers at the 6:00 hour. Our sweet nurse, Ms. Patti, even helped our littlest munchkin color her own for the midnight party...
Kason especially loved the 7:00 hour which entailed a bubble wrap hopscotch!
At 8:00, we made party hats for everyone to wear while we ring in the new year...
My favorite hour was 9:00 when we had a family game time and played Hungry Hippo!
Max and Zoe even jumped on the coffee table to get into the action. Of course Daniel and I had to work real hard on wrangling both littles while trying to beat the continual winner...aka Kason!
The 10:00 hour brought a little outdoor fun...
a silly string war!
While Kason and Zoe loved it, Max wasn't too sure what all the ruckus was about :)...
Even as the hours dwindled and more balloons were popped, Kason was just as excited as when we started...
For 11:00 we went back outside for a few party poppers!
With the last balloon popped, it was time for the BIG celebration...
ringing in the new year with a Clayton Crew special...a party! Everything was set from our activities...
party attire was ready to go...
candles were blown out...
and the festivities began! Max had a blast hanging out with us and even got tickled with his new hat on...
while Zoe couldn't stop laughing while shaking her noise maker...
Daniel, Kason, and I toasted our cups overflowing with milk...we hooped and hollered...we laughed till we nearly cried as we all enjoyed a day blessed with family.
The Clayton Crew always loves a new adventure and looks forward to seeing the way God will move within our lives in His service in this next year..so here's a toast to 2014!
