The Clayton Crew love, LoVe, LOVES the whole month of December as we celebrate the season of Christmas! Even though we were busy and out of town every weekend, the kids and I still managed to squeeze in some fun :). Each day we would count down to the big day by finding an activity we would do together...
Some days were decorating the tree, singing to Christmas music on a Merrioake microphone...
reading Christmas books...
enjoy a cup of hot cocoa...you know simple seasonal things that we all love. Kason's special treat this year was to help dad put up the Christmas lights!
Not gonna lie, I was a little nervous having him up on the porch roof...but he listened well and was in the best hands possible. Dad even let him sit in his lap and slide a couple of lights on...
Other days throughout the month, I had a bit more of a planned activity. Since my kids can't get enough of play dough, I whipped up a couple of batches for two separate activities. The first one was for little lady while the boys were at school. She had a blast rolling out her dough...
What I love about this in comparison to real cookies, is that she was able to take everything apart and start all over again :). The other play dough activity was the kids made Christmas trees.
Again, they rolled out the dough and cut it themselves, then enjoyed every minute of decorating...
One of the kids favorite activities is always wrapping the gifts. I usually do most of the gift wrapping during nap time or bed time, but I do let Kason wrap his gifts to the family.
This year, I had each kid go pick out a toy and wrap it. They switched it with each other and then had so much fun ripping open to see what they got...haha!
It was so cute to see them so excited...I mean really, isn't the joy in unwrapping the paper anyway! One day was Santa day...
Early in December, my mom surprised the kids with a letter from the North Pole!
Kason was in aw, as I read each letter aloud. He was amazed not only that Santa knew what they were hoping for, but that he knew about them being a good brothers or sister, starting kindergarten...
Kason kept going on and on about how awesome it was that Max was at the very top of the good list :). These were definitely a hit Mimi...thanks! Therefore, on Santa day we had to write our official letter back to Santa...
and let him know the important business that we were going to be at Mimi and Doc's this year, not our home :).
That day, kids painted the most adorable Santa faces...
One night, we decided to take the kids on the Clayton Express! We loaded everyone up in their pj's...
put on Christmas tunes, passed out cookies and milk...
then headed out for some Christmas light magic! Our conductor, Daniel, drove us around neighborhoods around our area and found some great spots...
Max loved the lights!
While Zoe seriously loved the cookies!
The best part was the gaudier the lights on the house, the more blow ups in front, the more flashing that took place...
the better :)! I must confess that even though I have said in the past how I would never, ever have blow ups in my yard...well this year Daniel proved me wrong...
He treated the kids to Mickey and Minnie and they were in love (especially since Zoe picked them out). These kids thought dad was the coolest ever! Our last activity before we headed out to see family was to make reindeer cookies...
Kason was excited to deliver them to his good friend Tanner next door and even loaded up a box to drop off with our children's ministers.
As usual, this crew loved the holiday cheer and couldn't get enough celebrating the season! Oh what a holly jolly Christmas month this was!
