Max had an amazing week after being taken off the ventilator. He responded incredibly to the steroids which was a blessing. And I must add that I am loving seeing his adorable face everyday without all that tubing in the way!
He loves his binky so much that he was even allowed to bottle feed this week, which saying he LOVED is a major understatement! The little peanut devoured his bottles when he was allowed to try and shocked all of the nurses. Apparently most babies who have been vented for a long time have an oral aversion towards anything in their mouth...but following in big brother's footsteps, he doesn't have a problem with gobbling down goodies!
So after a big week with great improvement, we were trying hard not to get too excited because we knew his "rebound" was coming up this weekend once the steroid was out of his system. Unfortunately, Max is having a harder time than Daniel and I expected. He seems to be plum tuckered out. The doctor is considering a few alternatives to try and help Max not have to be put back on the ventilator. As promised, I will keep everyone posted about our love bug that is sending us all on an emotional roller coaster!
