At the end of November, our family was thrilled to add a new family member...Mocha! So many sweet friends helped us raise money to bring Mocha home. Kason and Zoe were so excited to prepare for him. Mocha is a labradoodle and comes from a lady who trains therapy dogs. Our hope is that he would over time help us meet Max's needs and alert us when he is having a seizure in bed.
While we were so excited for Mocha to join our family, we weren't quite ready for the rough transition that was ahead. Mocha came to us a lot more puppy and a lot less therapy dog. Max genuinely likes Mocha even though he doesn't always appropriately interact with him.
It has taken several months for everyone to slowly adjust, but our whole family adores and loves Mocha so much.
Kason and Zoe have been really good helpers. The hard thing is that Max and Mocha like the same toys, so there tends to be a lot of yelling and hitting when Mocha gets near Max. It is slowly getting better each month and we look forward to the way Mocha will be a calming presence for our family.
Mocha is just the CUTEST. I personally love my times with him when it's just us. When kids aren't around he is quite lazy and loves to lay out next to you on the couch. There is nothing like a bond between kids and a dog, so in a year I know all the obstacles we have faced these months will be worth it.
