Friday was a big first step for Mr. Max...he got squeaky clean in his first real bath in a tub!
NICU teaches the parents how to give swaddle baths which in my opinion are genius. Since babies love to be swaddled, it only makes sense to keep them in their comfort zone while placing them in water for the first time. So by the time you add warm water to the already cozy baby, you get this...
one knocked out little guy! In fact, he got so relaxed that he pooped for us three times (actually, one time he pooped on my hand...thanks buddy)!
stretching completely out! The funny thing is, preemies don't usually like to sprawl out like this, instead they prefer to be contained...but not our little peanut. Of course he is already not following the rules because he is a little atypical for a 27 weeker since he is still on the ventilator. After playing musical ventilators, he has reached #4. He has previously been on ventilators that provide him more support, but thankfully this is his last ventilator because it is conventional and he will be able to be weaned off to a nasal canula or oxygen tent (hopefully real soon). So while we don't have the breathing thing down, we do have the growing thing down...Max is at 3 pounds 12 ounces. Go Max...go Max...go Max! I wasn't joking when I said we have two little porkers on our hands!!!
The best part about bath days is that we get to love on our peanut! Friday was also especially exciting because Daniel got hold him for the first time...which they both adored.
This is such a sweet post...I loved the pictures! Max is such a precious baby and it looks like he favors his big brother. I'm sure Daniel is on cloud nine after getting to hold Max for the first time. Thanks for sharing!
